Marketing Manager at Sheridan Lifts and chief blogger!

As part of our ongoing commitment to the community we serve, Sheridan Lifts are proud to announce that we are to be the main sponsor of Big Coat Day in Manchester, for the second year running.

This amazing event in its 16th year is run and organised by the guys over at FC United and as the name might suggest, is an endeavour aimed at collecting and distributing winter clothing for some of Manchester’s most vulnerable people. This will be run throughout January and into February.

Proceedings will be running a little differently to the last time the event was held, as you might imagine. As the football club is closed, there are a number of groups who will be collecting and distributing the items from the adjacent Food Hub.

Supporters and the general public are invited to drop off clothes off to the Food Hub at Broadhurst Park via the St Mary’s Road End (SMRE) car park door. The Food Hub entrance is the glass door further along from SMRE turnstile, leading into the community space under the stand.

We are asking supporters for donations of warm clothes. Please spend some time checking your wardrobes for the following items:

• Warm clothing (eg jumpers, big coats etc)
• Sturdy footwear (eg hiking shoes, trainers etc)
• Hiking attire
• Ruck sacks/backpacks
• Sleeping bags
• Gloves/hats/scarves
• Belts
• Waterproofs
• NEW socks
• NEW underwear
• NEW thermals
• Toiletries (sanitary products, toothpaste, toothbrushes and wet wipes)

You can drop clothes off during the Food Hub’s regular hours of operation:
Monday and Thursday 10.30am – 3.30pm
Friday 8am – 4pm

This year there is also a Wishlist for those people willing to donate but who don’t have the items to do so. To see details of the wish list please visit this page on the FC United website where you can scan a barcode.

On behalf of everyone at Sheridan’s, we continue to be humbled by the dedication and love shown by each and every one of these volunteers, without whom this event would not be possible.

Great work everyone.
