Marketing Manager at Sheridan Lifts and chief blogger!

Greetings to everyone and a very Happy New Year, lets hope 2021 will be a better one for us all.

Wherever you are in the world, we hope you managed to have a nice Christmas and for all those that have been unwell or are currently unwell, we wish you a speedy recovery.

Whilst the Christmas period was very different for everyone this year, for some in particular it was even more challenging and painful than ever. Christmas Comforts is a community project run by the guys at FC United of Manchester and we were proud to sponsor their event in 2019. When Vinny from the club contacted us late last year and explained how the event would look for 2020 in the wake of COVID-19, we were only too happy to help them again.

Commenting on the event, a representative from FCUM said:

“The Christmas Comforts campaign supports over 100 vulnerable families from different areas of our community. Amongst them, we support the hidden homeless of families fleeing domestic violence in temporary accommodation across the city. These families have little access to previous home comforts and essentials. As others have in previous years, they will benefit from our help at this stressful time of the year. These families have faced exacerbated hardship this year due to problems associated with the Covid crisis.

We will also be supporting our regular service users of the FoodHub, who include isolated older people, families facing hardship due to Covid, individuals awaiting Universal Credit payments, refugee families and much more. Each year, our Christmas Comforts campaign also supports an assisted living community neighbouring Broadhurst Park, providing them with a full Christmas dinner and all the ingredients for a lovely Christmas Day, to ensure those who cannot be with family at this time of the year have an extra special Christmas. In addition to these community action projects, we will also continue to support other foodbanks, alongside other homeless projects across Greater Manchester”.

In 2019 the Broadhurst Park stadium was opened to the public for people to come and receive presents, medical advice and supplies, get a haircut and take some warm clothing, or enjoy some downtime on the playstation in between Christmas luch being served – with all services in place thanks to a team of amazing volunteers.

For 2020 those same amazing volunteers faced new challenges including delivering Christmas lunch to some of the most vulnerable people in the region. Sheridan Lifts were delighted to help financially support this event as well as arranging our own donations to the cause. Here is the car collecting our gifts in December.

With all staff deployed in masks and following strict protocols, the team was able to deliver presents, warm clothing and Christmas lunch to those that needed it the most this year. Here at Sheridans we think this is testament to the dedication and love shown by each and every one of the volunteers and for that they should be immensely proud.

Community is what brings us together and on behalf of everyone at Sheridans we’d like to personally thank those volunteers for helping to bring some Christmas cheer to those people who were so in need this year. Well done guys!
